Some time ago I was in a production of “The Beggar’s Opera”, a musical written by John Gay in 1728. (Beware, dear reader, I am about to brag, forgive me).
A BBC producer came to see the show and was mightily impressed. He was particularly entranced by the performance of The Beggar and Mrs Trapes (the whore-mistress).
He asked to meet the two actors who had played those parts...
They were both me.
For the next few months Authentic Blue are concentrating on getting some new, original musicals on stage. Tim has three on the stocks at the moment. They all have strong stories and hopefully are both challenging and fun. You can see a description of them in our “Musicals” section.
Musical production at its best
Fabulous performances, brilliant choreography, marvelous sets and costumes – they are all part of the wonder that is the West End. I have seen three shows recently which exemplify this perfectly.
There’s “An American In Paris”, “Dreamgirls” and “School Of Rock”, all terrific examples of musical production at its best.
On SEPTEMBER 16th we make a triumphant return to the awesome Underground Chamber of the Brunel Museum in Rotherhithe. We will play a sparkling new repertoire of songs ranging from rock to Blues to cabaret. It is part of the thrilling Totally Thames Festival where we were a sensation last year.

We're very much looking forward to playing at the Pheasantry (Chelsea) - part of Pizza Express Live clubs - to introduce songs from new musicals we've been working on!
As Authentic Blue, we are perhaps unique in that we are both a gigging band and also a potent force creating new musicals.
All songs focus on bringing out the power of the lyrics and the brilliance of the musicianship. All five members are multi-talented singer/actors and they bring drama, passion and audacity to every show.
As of today we have three musicals in development plus a couple of previously-produced works and you will hear songs from all of them.
